When installing the expansion joint, attention should be paid to the following aspects:
Inspection and preparation: Before installation, carefully check the form, specifications, and quantity of expansion joints to ensure they are not damaged. At the same time, construction personnel need to carefully read the product manual, understand the construction drawings, and develop installation steps and plans.
Protecting bellows: During installation, care must be taken to protect thin-walled parts such as bellows from damage caused by impacts, scratches, arc strikes, welding spatter, and other factors. Chlorine free asbestos can be used for protection and to ensure that the lifting device does not directly act on the corrugated pipe.
Guiding direction: For expansion joints with guiding sleeves, it should be ensured that the guiding direction is consistent with the flow direction of the medium, which helps to ensure the normal operation of the expansion joint.
Fixed device: The transportation fixed device of the expansion joint should not be removed temporarily until the installation is completed, otherwise it will affect the compensation effect of the expansion joint (unless there are special requirements).
Coordinate with pipeline system: Displacements that were not considered in the design should not be compensated for by adjusting the expansion joint during installation. Instead, the pipeline system should be adjusted to match the expansion joint to avoid twisting or twisting the corrugated pipe.
Bracket installation: Fixed brackets, guide brackets, and brackets should be installed according to the pipeline system diagram to ensure that the brackets meet the design requirements. It is strictly prohibited to test the pressure inside the pipeline before the bracket is installed to avoid damaging the expansion joint.
Storage environment: Expansion joints should be stored in ultra-low temperature, dry places, to prevent sunlight exposure, and to avoid damage caused by high temperatures, heat sources, reactive oxygen species, engine oil, strong alkalis, strong acids, etc. Prohibit strong reflective light sources from being exposed to sunlight and carrying loads to prevent expansion joints from bending, deforming, or breaking.
Please note that the installation requirements for expansion joints may vary depending on the specific operating conditions. For unconventional expansion joints, communication with the manufacturer should be conducted before installation to confirm the installation plan. In addition, after installation, necessary inspections and tests should be carried out to ensure that the expansion joint is installed correctly and working properly.
